The walnuts are a labor of love, I crack or cut them open myself, and feed the contents to our resident squirrel family, then the walnuts are cleaned out and prepped for the real crafting to begin!
I got the idea for walnut miniatures from an old family christmas ornament from the '70s that featured a felt mouse sleeping in a walnut shell bed. For years my sister and I would fight over who got to put the walnut ornament on the family christmas tree. Now that I have my own christmas tree, I thought I could make my own! Then more family and friends would request walnuts for gifts and to capture fond memories. Hearing the stories behind why someone purchases or commissions a walnut reinvigorates my love for them. Wether to honor a favorite storybook racoon, the favorite bird of a passed love one, or to remember a special trip, they all touch my heart is such a special way.
Pricing on walnuts start at $20 (shipping not included), with custom commissions starting at $35.
